Welcome to our website and the congenital heart disease summary page.
This page provides a definition and links to lessons and auscultation sounds.
Congenital heart disease are abnormalities in the heart and major blood vessels that occur before birth.
This disease affects 1% of children and about a half million adults.
We have prepared a short course on congenital heart disease, with a
focus on auscultation skills. Lessons include atrial septal defect, coarctation of the aorta, patent ductus arteriosus, ventricular septal defect,
tetralogy of Fallot and Epstein's anomaly. Each lesson includes audio recordings,
text, animated heart valve video and a phonocardiogram.
