This drill will teach you to recognize the presence of a physiologically split second heart sound. In this case the difference between the first and second component of the second heart sound varies with respiration. At peak inspiration the distance between the first and second heart sound is at a maximum and at peak expiration it is at a minimum.
In this case we will contrast a second heart sound with fixed splitting and a second heart sound with physiological splitting.
When you are confident that you can detect the difference, move on to the test. In the test we will play cycles randomly and ask you to tell which is which.
