This drill will teach you to detect the presence of a split second heart sound. The first sound in a split second heart sound is caused by the closing of the aortic valve leaflets and the second by the closing of the pulmonic valve leaflets.
In this drill we will play heart sound cycles with and without a split second heart sound. The splitting of the second heart sound will be fixed. Later we will review physiologically split second heart sounds. Listen as long as you want.
When you are confident that you can detect the difference, move on to the test. In the test we will play cycles randomly and ask you to tell which is which.
