This drill will teach you to detect the presence of a third heart sound. A third heart sound is heard early in diastole. It is lower frequency than the second heart sound.
A third heart sound is an important indicator of poor ventricular function. In this drill we will play heart sound cycles with and without a third heart sound. Listen as long as you want.
When you are confident that you can detect the difference, move on to the test. In the test we will play cycles randomly and ask you to tell which is which.
